Hyatt Regency Long Beach June 2009

While the Hyatt is a beautiful hotel and extremely conviently located, I have to say that had I not recieved the fantastic discount online I would not have stayed there. The staff are every bit of friendly and helpful as other reviewers state, gladly definitively confirming a specific room for us prior to arrival, providing us with necessities in short order. But many amenities you expect and often get for free or reasonable charges are non-existant here. There is coffee available in the room, but just enough for one cup each (we had to ask for more). There is no continental breakfast, no morning edition of USA Today. No wireless (or for that matter, wired) internet access. All of these were only available for an additional cost, i.e. on the "business plan" you could have a paper (upcharge on the room), wireless internet is $9.95 per 24-hour period and the breakfast buffet was $17.95 per person! Even at the deeply discounted rate we had these prices were astronomical, I can't imagine paying full price for accomodations and then paying these additional costs. In summary - stay here for the convenience and the excellent service...but not if you plan on having any additional amenities.
