Quaint Hotel in Mediveal Town

Located in the old customs house adjacent to one of this walled town's gates, the Romantik Hotel Markusturm is as lovely on the inside as it is on the outside. Dating back to the 13th Century, this building is often featured in travel pictures of Rothenburg. The room we booked through Travel agency was 130 Euro per night, which was very reasonable for a hotel of this caliber. When my husband and I arrived, we were informed by the desk clerk that our room had been upgrated to the "Bridal Suite" at no additional charge. What a wonderful surprise! The suite was great, although we are still puzzling over the clear glass door into the very spacious bathroom. (Must be some kind of German honeymoon tradition!) All in all, our stay was very enjoyable. The staff was extremely helpful and always pleasant. Breakfast, which was included in the cost of the room, featured the usual cheeses, breads and meats plus cooked-to-order eggs. The entire experience was delightful, and I would strongly recommend this hotel to others!
