Calgary is a beautiful place. Banff National park has numerous icefields, turquoise lakes and beautiful waterfalls. We took the bus trip to Columbia Icefield, drove to Lake Louise and Takakkaw falls and took the Gondola over the Banff National Park.${QuickSuggestions} August is a good time to go there. Its not too busy and flights are not too expensive. Also, the roads were clear and us southerners could stand the cold air without needing too many jackets.
The people were friendly, and I took lots of pictures which adorn my computer desktop even today.${BestWay} Flights to Calgary and then rent a car. Driving in Canada is very similar to driving in the US. There are very few gas stations in the Banff area. So fill up when you get a chance. Take lots of water and sandwiches with you (in the car) since there are very few snack shops or shopping centers inside the park (as we are used to in the USA.

Check-in was the only easy part. Restaurant had no service, so we left after a few minutes. The room was moldy and we woke up in the middle of the night with a huge headache when huge amount of water started dripping from the ceiling! thankfully it was in the bathroom and the water went straight into the bathtub. We didn't use the bathtub after that.
