Vegas at the Stratosphere

We had been missing the sights and sounds of Vegas so before we went home from Sedona we sidetripped to Las Vegas.

We wanted the Vegas experience but we did not want to spend a lot of money. After reading review after review we opted for the Stratosphere. When we arrived, there was a very long check-in line. I noticed a kiosk that said you could check in right there if you already had reservations. I used that kiosk and was checked in in seconds, literally. It even printed out your key. Awesome touch!

Le Provencal

Several years ago, we visited France and included Provence. Missing that kind of cooking, we decided to go to this restaurant in the Paris Casino. The food was OK, but not overly Provencal. As a matter of fact, their menu included Tuscany entre├ęs, which I felt was a bit odd. Now, the servers also served as the entertainment including a waitress with a lovely voice, but who sang a song in Italian! Huh?

Nonetheless, what I ended up ordering was the open lobster ravioli which was hugely filling but not entirely satisfying as it wasn't really Provencale or even particularly delicious lobster. Oh, well. Our waiter was hilarious! He was probably in his '50s but he told us in his younger days he was a dancer in the Jubilee show at Bally's. I would recommend going here, but don't expect a Provencal meal, just a fun time eating!

Nathan Burton Magic Show

We had seen Nathan Burton on America's Got Talent. Though he didn't win, we thought he was one of the best acts. Some of his tricks included magically transporting himself from the stage to the back of the audience without anyone seeing him. We purchased tickets to see him through Ticketmaster for less than $25 each which in Vegas these days is a good price!
