The Embassy Suites is wonderful. It is located right off of Poplar Avenue which leads directly downtown (about 15 minutes). It has gardens inside with a pond and ducks! The rooms are all suites with the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, even better than home. Breakfast is for free and as good as a restaurant with pancakes, waffles, french toast, made to order omelets, eggs, bacon, sausage, muffins, and a lot more. All hot and fresh. The staff is wonderful and very friendly. Very safe area.
Huey's is a fun restaurant in downtown Memphis. They have great food and a great atmosphere. You can write on the walls and blow toothpicks in the ceiling. It is quite a sight to see!Try their chicken and pineapple kabobs, they are wonderful.
The Memphis Zoo is wonderful. The main attraction is the panda bears. There are only 3 zoos in the US with panda bears and this is one. They are so fun to watch. Other than the panda bears, it is a pretty typical zoo. They have a seal lion show that is fun to watch.
The National Civil Rights Museum is a must see while in Memphis. It is located in the actual hotel where Martin Luther King was shot. You can see what his hotel room looked like when he stayed there and the balcony he was shot from. They also have a lot of other information on civil rights that is interesting.
