A Baroque city with modern charm as well, Ouro Preto made a perfect destination to experience authentic Carnival in Brazil.

Best Things Nearby:Modern supermarkets, malls. Don't miss Irrfi Boutique for wonderful buys on natural gems. At less cost compared to Rio.Best Things About the Resort:The staff were wonderfully helpful to us and the resort was itself was pleasant and clean. Resort Experience:It's an inland city, that is situated in the moderately mountainous state of Minas Gerais. It's not a huge tourist destination like Rio and there are very few people who speak/understand English there (so learn a little Portuguese, please!). But it made for a nice, quiet get-away from the congestion and chaos of Rio during Carnival. We thoroughly enjoyed Carnival on a day's road trip to nearby OuroPreto where Old World charm met modern-day revelry.
