A great mix of country and urban

The new Carriage Ridge is a beautiful spot hidden away from the noise of the city, but a 15 minute drive takes you to the conveniences of the city.

The new resort where we stayed has a pleasant recreation area with swimming pool and gym. There are also 2 bbq areas.

There are many activites on site, including aqua fit, sundae socials, boat cruises, hikes, bikes rental tours and trips to the local casino.

If you have a car there are many sites close by including outlet and antique malls. About 1.5 hours away you can visit Toronto as well.

${QuickSuggestions} There is a grocery store near by as well the many food service establishments on site have great menus.

There is still some construction happening on site.

If you want to get pizza try Bando's, about a 5 minute drive away.${BestWay} You will need a car to get around in this area.

Best Things Nearby:
Within an hours drive there are two cities, each with malls, casinos, boardwalks, movie theatres, restaurants, as well as many other tourist activies.

1-1 1/2 hours will get you to Toronto, Wasaga beach, and more outlet malls. While in Toronto you can see the Jays, Maple Leafs, the Royal Ontario Museum, Bata Shoe Museum, CN Tower, Kensington Market, Canada's Wonderland and the Toronto Zoo.

If you are willing to drive for 3 hours you can get to the Niagara area where you can see shows at the Shaw Festival, more outlet malls as well as everything in Niagara like the Falls, boat tours museums, butterfly gardens and casinos.

Best Things About the Resort:
The resort is new so everything is great, there are dvd players, and dvds available for rent. In the summer there are many great places to hike/walk - in the winter you can ski for 12 hours a day!

Resort Experience:
This new resort has almost completed all construction onsite.

Our studio unit had a nice porch with two seats and a table, dvd player - tv, cd player, microwave, coffee maker/kettle, toaster oven, sleeping, and sitting area for 2. The couch was a pull out so 4 people could have slept in this room. There was also a table in the room with four chairs. The room also came with an iron/ironing board, and we had access to the laundry room. The bathroom had a nice size stall and came with towels for 4.

Silks Fine Dining

Silks and the Fireside Cafe are located beside each other at the main lodge. Silks offers a chef's special every night as well as the menu which can be found online at www.horseshoeresort.com. Presentation and choice of foods is great considering all other dining options in the area are cafe or casual dining.

We were able to enjoy a nice house wine, salad starters, well-sized roast and fish for dinner, as well as dessert.
