Be sure and visit Fort Zachery Taylor Park -- this is a great place to watch the sunset. Nancy's Secret Garden is a special spot in the heart of old town -- be sure to visit.${QuickSuggestions} Since Key West is such a popular destination, I would advise making reservation early, especially if you have a particular place you want to stay. In our case, it is the Frances Street Bottle Inn. This also holds true for restaurants, the popular ones book fast so be sure and have the staff make a reservation for you early in the day.${BestWay} Walk, walk, walk (you can always call a taxi if you get tired), or rent a bike.

Super!!! This was a return trip for us and we stayed at our favorite inn. However, this time we opted to stay in room one (picture attached). We loved the porch outside our room and often ate our breakfast there. My husband would bring a tray from the extensive breakfast buffet up to the room. This was a wonderful way to start the day. Afterwards, we would have the staff make us a dinner reservation and then talk to them about their recommendations for that day's outing. Our room was clean, comfortable and tropical in its appearance. We especially like the hand-painted furniture in the lobby (done by a local artist) and all the original island art. Since we were there over the Easter weekend, we were treated--as were all the guests-- to a special happy hour. In addition to the usual happy-hour drinks and hors d'oeuvres, the staff provided all the guests with hard-boiled eggs and dyes. What fun it was to dye eggs again, and the spirit of camaraderie was super. A great time was had by all of us. This was a real highlight.

We enjoyed dining by the pool and the waterfront at this popular new bar/restaurant. We listened to a local group playing island music and then ordered a light meal as we watched the sky change during sunset. The waitstaff was pleasant and told us that the only requirement for using the pool was to purchase a drink.

Romantic Ideas

Since this was a special vacation for us, we asked the staff at our inn for specific recommendations since we knew that they offer romance packages. They suggested that we visit Fort Zackary Taylor Park in the late afternoon and stay to watch the sunset. This was a fabulous idea. The beach was almost deserted and we had a beautiful view of the sailboats going in and out of the harbor and an unobstructed view of the gorgeous sunset. I highly recommended this. What was really wonderful is that the staff gave us a pass to enter the park so there was no cost for us.

After a long day of sightseeing, we were tired, but wanted to have a tasty meal. The staff arranged for our dinner to be delivered to us from the outstanding restaurant across the street. We dined on delicious food provided by Cafe Sole.
