Under the Umbrian Sun

Flew into Florence, got a BMW rental stick-shift, and off we went with dear friends to explore Umbria!

The restaurant was packed with locals and was recommended by our hotel staff. We ordered the special of that day: linguine with clams. We were instructed that we were NOT to use the Parmesan cheese on the pasta, as it would be extremely offensive to the chef. Loaded with clams still quivering in their shells, we ate our fill. The homemade tiramisu was to die for. The house wine was also excellent: vino rosso toscano, I.G.T. The waiter was friendly and gave us pens as we left for little souvenirs.

Close to the train station, it was within walking distance, as was EVERYTHING from where we stayed.

Il Pizzaluolo

On our last trip to Florence, this was such a superb experience; we couldn't wait to go back. However, this time, it was a bit disappointing. Maybe our expectations were too high, but the pizza was just ok and the house wine was horrid, but the next grade up was terrific! We had diverse pizzas, from the seafood to the margarita and beyond!
