The Municipal Market (Mercado Municipal) is great for souvenir shopping and for buying beach attire and arts and crafts. Don't miss out on the arts and crafts market as well, which is just a block or two from the Municipal Market.${QuickSuggestions} A cab from the airport should charge you no more than $20 to a hotel in the downtown area, and if you are going to Nuevo Vallarta, it should only be a few bucks more.${BestWay} You can easily get around in cabs, or if you are adventurous, go ahead and catch a bus. Just make sure you ask if it goes wherever you are trying to get to because buses that go to different destinations make similar stops.

I had a one-bedroom unit that I must say was very spacious and comfortable. The bedroom is completely separate from the living room and kitchen facilities. The area where the kitchen is also has a Murphy bed in the living room on which I slept on just one night to try it out, and it was great! I was informed that that area translates into what is known as a studio unit, so I would not mind going back and just getting a studio unit because it was very comfortable as well. There was a balcony in the bedroom and where the kitchen and living room area are, so I doubled my pleasure.

Best Things Nearby:
You are right in the downtown area, so you pretty much have everything nearby, or at a quick bus ride away. There is a mini-mart right in front of the resort and a supermarket within a few blocks, which is great in case you get the munchies. Very conveniently located.

Best Things About the Resort:
The entire resort has been recently remodeled due to the hurricane damage it sustained in 2002, so the rooms are tastefully decorated, comfortable, clean, and spacious. I really loved the double balcony my room had. The pool was great, and don't forget to try a piña colada wth amaretto instead of rum at the wet bar!

Resort Experience:
The resort definitely wears its Gold Crown status well. I loved it because it is not too ritzy, but it is absolutely not a low quality resort. Back in September 2002, the resort was badly hit by Hurricane Kena and just recently opened up for business in October 2003, so everything is practically brand new. Although there is construction still going on at the resort, it did not bother me one bit since there are only minor renovations being made way on the other side. The pool has a wonderful waterfall that gives you an excellent back massage--a must try experience. Although the beach on-site is not very apt for swimming, it helps paint a beautiful picture to see at sunrise or sunset.

Tequila´s

Tequila's is a quaint little restaurant located right on the Malecon, where not only can you enjoy an excellent dinner but also admire a beautiful sunset and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the passerby. All the waiters are beautifully attired in "Charro" type uniforms, which really makes you get into the Mexican mood.

Senor Frogs

Senor Frogs is a great place to dance, drink, and just have a wild time. I went with a friend, but it's great for groups and even if you go alone, you make friends really fast. During the week there isn't a cover charge, but you pay for your drinks, and on the weekends, they have a cover charge that includes the open bar, which is awesome.

Feeling a little crazy? Then Senor Frogs is the place to be!

Hilo is a great disco to get down and boogie! They play the latest dance hits in a really cool and modern ambiance. Drinks are a little expensive, but it definitely is a happening place.

Sun, Sand, Surf and FUN in Puerto Vallarta

Member Rating 0 out of 5 by Adi_belle on November 26, 2003

I cannot stress enough the fact that the way to travel is definitely during the low season. I've been to many beach destinations, usually during high season, and have found it to be overwhelming.

Puerto Vallarta is a charming town with fun for everyone, whether you are traveling with friends, family, or a more adventurous you emerges and you decide to go alone like I did. It's a wonderful place for honeymooners as there's lots of romantic places to dine, or just lock yourself all week in your room, admiring the incredible sunsets from your balcony. I saw lots of families as well, which leads me to beleive that it can be enjoyed by one and all.
