the gateway to the rockies

Calgary is a fun, booming, cosmopolitan city, an hour away from the Rockies and some of the best skiing in North America.

Some of the best things to do in Calgary are shopping at the Eau Claire market, checking out the museums and galleries, dining out, Calaway amusement park, and going to the Stampede.

Calgary is a young city, and has a vibrant atmosphere. Even when you don't know where you are going, it feels as if you're getting there quickly. ${QuickSuggestions} Just because the people are friendly doesn't necessarily mean they're hitting on you!

In Calgary, pretty much anything goes; if you want to be foolish, go right ahead - the people will just smile and keep on going.

You really don't have to be a cowboy to go there, although even some of the top execs that live there do wear snazzy cowboy boots!${BestWay} City transit is really good - you've got the bus system and the C-train, as well as very helpful taxi drivers; but if you want to check out the mountains and get out of the hustle-bustle of the city, you'll need a car.

This place is great! Dairy-cow-decorated couches and off-the-wall decorations combine with terra-cotta-style design, and they have Spanish education tapes playing in the washrooms. The food is terrific, and there is all sorts of it to choose from from around the world.

It's terrific. It's located in the heart of Calgary, but you'd never believe it. It has everything a regular zoo has, and more. The dinosaur park is massive, depicting dinosaurs in their natural habitats going about their daily business. Kids can climb all over them, and run around to their heart's content (or until they are exhausted).

As mentioned before, there are all sorts of rides for kids to go on as well. There are tons of vendors selling tons of junk food (and some healthy stuff, too). The petting zoo is always a hit with kids, too.
