We traveled to Kauai, HI for a week to our home timeshare to revisit the island we had lived on for a year and a half back in 1971-72. Although we've been back twice before, it had been about 15 years.

Resort Experience:
The grounds at the Pona Kai are very nice and well kept, and we had a wonderful view of the area from our room. We did have some problems checking in and getting into the correct room. They had made an error in the assigned unit due to a misunderstanding on the phone. The one-bedroom with partial kitchen we had requested was unsatisfactory to us--it had no view and was very small. We paid extra to upgrade to a regular one-bedroom, which then had the lovely view and very roomy but the decorating in it was very plain and not attractive. We checked in on a Tuesday and were not told of ANY activities, mid-week full cleaning, Sunday continental breakfast, or even given a parking pass. Actually, we felt a bit "ignored" and were told later this was all due to checking in on Tuesday. That shouldn't make any difference. Although it is our home resort, I doubt if we would ever go back--we can do much better.
