Winter Sun in Rhodes

Another Greek Island visit in mid-winter, but we got some lovely sunshine and 70 degrees (20 Celsius). It's lively with locals, so we got more of a sense of the place -- still quite busy though. Most places in the evenings were open.

Best Things Nearby:
Lovely views of the sea right over to Turkey.

Best Things About the Resort:
Clean, bright, and recently renovated.

Resort Experience:
Very large swimming pool, too cold for us though, but it would be nice in the summer. Lovely beach area in front of the swimming pool and well kept grounds. The inside of the main building, including the reception and bar, were being renovated, but we managed to get a drink and rent a car from the local rep who is based at the hotel.

Not very much to do that time of year, but touring the island is great when there's not many people around. We had a nice unit which had one bedroom, bathroom including shower over the bath, kitchen with microwave, and living/dining area with terrace overlooking the swimming pool and the sea. The TV had satellite channels so were able to check in with the BBC!

"Rhodes Acropolis"

As you drive around the island of Rhodes, many spectacular sights come into view - you just kind of happen upon them. As you leave the town of Rhodes with the sea to your right and drive along the back road, you will come to a bit of a hill and there is a fantastic 'Acropolis' type building. You can go almost up to the columns, and they light it all up at night so it stands proud as you look up.
