Description: On the first night of my "work" part of travel agent trip, I stayed at the beautiful Best Western Sundial Inn.
My limo driver kept trying to tell me I had the wrong address for the Sundial Inn Resort and then tried dropping me off at the W Scottsdale. I assured him, I was a travel agent and knew the difference between a W and a Best Western. As I am arguing with him that no I am not at the W, I spy the Best Western.
This very new boutique hotel is amongst the chains growing list of trendy boutique hotels. This hotel is quite eye catching and inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright. I check into my home for the night and then to my room where my roommate for the trip, Pam from the AAA in Chicago, has already arrived. Pam and I have already been corresponding so we get a chance to catch up and take a breather before our welcome reception.
Our room is quite modern and upscale. We have a flat screen TV and the furnishings are sleek and black. We have drawers, a work desk, and a vanity. We have 2 very comfy queen size beds. Slide open the glass doors, step out and we are greeted with a view of the pool and the surrounding mountain range. Our bathroom is a bit small but very nice and has a nice amenities basket. The only thing I do not like is the shower. Just like in Raleigh, there is a pane of glass in the front of the shower and that is it. It allows water to go everywhere so don’t leave anything on the floor. You can’t reach in and adjust the shower before you get in.
After chatting and a shower we go down to the pool for our welcome reception. This place is just spectacular as you are surrounded by the mountains. The pool offers amazing views and there is also hot tub. We have plenty of room at the pool for 50 agents and then hotel staff as well as a musician and several food stations. So this is a wonderful place to hold you next big event. And the food is divine. They have a delish selection of desserts that are to die for. They also have an open bar at the reception.
The hotel staff is friendly and many are bi-lingual. The front lobby is warm and inviting. There are exterior corridors, but safety doesn’t seem to be an issue. There is an expanded area on the second floor with several oversized couches for smokers or for catching up. Or for not disturbing your roommate at 5 am calling Disney to make your clients dining reservations! They are in a great location. There are a number of restaurants nearby and we were able to walk to the Fashion Mall in about 5 minutes. They have plenty of room for parking busses and RV’s. Other than the shower, my only other complaint is no fitness center. After loosing 50 pounds, that has become a big amenity for me.
The hotel offers:
• Free high speed internet
• Heated pool/hot tub
• Complimentary breakfast
• Business Center
• Rooms are smoke free
• Pet friendly
• Free parking
• Meeting space/catering/wedding services
