Radisson Blu Golden Sands

Situated on Golden Sands beach in Mellieha Bay, Radisson Blu Resort and Spa won me over from first sight. This 5* hotel impressed me over and over throughout our three-night stay. My husband had already spent four nights here and loved it as much as I did.

Our room, a suite that was part of the Zenith collection, had a bedroom with a separate lounge area. The bedroom had a king-sized bed and a door leading out to the balcony that spanned the entire suite. The lounge area had a table and chairs, sofa and a desk area. I never tired of looking out the window at the amazing view of the beach below. The best part about the balcony is that we could open the doors in the lounge area and the bedroom area and our daughter, who had only started to walk, could go round and round and round practicing her walking skills.

The hotel had a superb outdoor area for swimming. One pool connected to the indoor pool and was heated. The other pools were a bit chilly for us to use in March with the poor weather that we had that weekend. We used the indoor pool and Jacuzzi with our daughter (16 months at the time) as well as the one outdoor pool. You would also access the beach from the hotel for swimming or walking along the beach.

The hotel also had an amazing spa that I will write about in a separate entry. They had so many things to offer such as salon, massage, manicure and pedicures and so on. There was a huge list of services on offer. Tom had a 20% off certificate in his room upon arrival so I did my best to use it!

The hotel isn’t exactly in the epicenter of activity so plan to use local buses or a rental car if you want to get away or even get to a shop for some food or snacks. We also found it a bit difficult to find at night. The road signage around the hotel isn’t great.

The breakfast buffet was amazing, as you would expect from a Radisson. We didn’t eat at any of the restaurants in the hotel as they were very expensive.

We found the housekeeping to do a great job with keeping us with fresh towels and cleaning the room. We didn’t find it to be dirty or dusty at all. I was ok with my daughter running around and exploring the room.

Overall, I loved staying at this hotel. The hotel offered us a decent rate since Tom was extending his stay from the work week. The spa was amazing. The room suited us with our young daughter. The staff were friendly and helpful when we needed assistance. I would also like to add that Malta is a very small island. It takes no time at all to drive all the way across. You could easy stay here and visit Valletta and take the ferry across to Gozo as well as see other things across the island.
