I e-mailed Ms. Meade and she was kind enough to arrange for a half day private cooking lesson since we were staying at Berry Lodge for two nights. The cooking lesson was held in the lodge’s spacious and spotlessly clean kitchen. We prepared an entire meal from appetizers and brown bread to buttermilk sorbet and even an interesting brown bread ice cream for dessert. Ms. Meade was patient and thorough in her instruction. She uses only the finest organic and local products in her classes and in all the meals served at the B & B. After several pleasant hours of food preparation we sat down with Rita on her lovely patio and enjoyed our delicious lunch. After lunch she presented us with a folder containing the recipes we had prepared. In the afternoon we were given directions to a local goat cheese maker and enjoyed visiting this farm and seeing the animals and cheese making process. Ms. Meade said that many couples stay at Berry Lodge and one person will take the cooking course while the other goes out golfing on nearby courses.
Prices per person range from £23-25 IEP for B & B accommodations to £260 IEP for a three day residential cooking school stay including all meals and 14 hours of tuition. Updated information is available on www.berrylodge.com, fax 353-65-708-7011, e-mail: email@example.com. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute we spent at Berry Lodge and highly recommend a stay there even if you are not interested in taking cooking lessons.
