Hi,
I've just spent a week on Koh Lanta and found the most beautiful, peaceful, isolated resort on the island. Sang Kha Ou resort is on Lanta's eastern side, at the end of the road and borders the Mu Koh Lanta national park. I heard about this place from a man I met at a street cafe in Bangkok and came to find it during my stay here and very glad I did.
I stayed in a tree house for a week, listening to the sounds of the jungle, the waves lapping on the shore and hearing the occasional long tail boat coming in and out of the harbours at the nearby Sea Gypsy communities. The resort has more unusual accommodation - boat houses, a Thai style house, stone and cave houses. Swimming is possible from the resort, although we took the resorts long tail boat to the nearby national park's sandy beach and trekked through the jungle back to the resort. The place has a beautiful restaurant with a chef from a five star hotel. Like most resorts here, they also offer a pick up service from Saladan pier and other resorts on Koh Lanta. This is an ideal location for nature lovers, adventurers and anyone looking for a peaceful stay away from the busier west coast. Contact them via email at info@sangkhaouresort.com
Cheers
