Meeting and Exceeding My Expectation!

I have just checked out from ibis Singapore and waiting for my friend to pick me up at the lobby, using their free internet kiosk.

Great location, and although there are 200 or so hotels in Singapore, I think this one is the winner! As a member of Accor Advantage plus, I only paid SGD120 and ate breakfast with my girlfriend and kept using WiFi internet connection all included in this price! Too good to be true, and it is true!

The room is not massive, but cosy and crean enough and it has everything I needed! I felt that the internet connection was little slow to download heavy pictures (for work... compared to mega fast computer and I can download anything so quick at work), but fast enough to check emails and send emails + chat + update facebook etc...

When you come to Singapore, if you are looking for a budget hotel in the good location and you need a comfortable stay I highly recommend you to stay at this hotel!

Where Else Do You Need to Stay?

After a week of hectic business trips to Japan, Korea and Australia, I have finally found a time to write a review about this hotel again!

Arriving from Osaka on delayed Singapore Airline, finally got to the ibis Singapore, my second stay, around 11:00PM. This time, Taxi driver knew the hotel, and the receptionist remembered my name, and welcomed me with very warm smile.

Same as the last time, first thing I did was to connect to free wireless internet connection, while unpacking, check work emails and check facebook etc etc. Internet connection speed was adequate enough for me to do everything I needed within 20 minutes. I decided to take a quick walk around the hotel before calling a night, there were still few staff members willing to help me with where I can go to enjoy Singapore, compared to ?? Hotel I stayed in Korea (This hotel in Seoul claimed 24 hours reception but I hardly saw any staff members around midnight...), ibis Singapore does have enough staff members serving you! I visited 24 hours bargain shopping mall, Mustafa, in little india, where you can buy everything you can thing of at unthinkable price (very very cheap)! Thank you ibis Singapore for suggesting this place!

I only stayed for 2 nights this time, and the stay was very comfortable, great service and great location!

As I had an early flight to catch, the early riser breakfast served from 4AM in the morning was a great plus for me!

For all this great experience, I paid only $138 including free WiFi access (this time I used my laptop in the restaurant without any problem), where else would you consider to stay in Singapore?

Surprisingly Modern Economy Hotel

I love staying in hotels, but obviously that isn't too good for my wallet, especially with the so-called 'recession' bug trailing after me. So when I heard that a new economy hotel is opening in Singapore, I thought 'why not?', any hotel is worth a try.

So I booked myself into the new Ibis Singapore on Bencoolen, expecting only the essentials to be provided. I mean, it is an 'economy' hotel afterall. But guess what! It was actually more than what I expected.

First, the room:
OK, so it was small, but it has all the furnishings that I need: a soft comfortable bed, fluffy pillows (in which I got an extra when requested, thank you house keeping!!), a work table (with FREE WIRELESS!!!), a flat screen tv, AND they are very generous with the big bottle of shampoo in the bathroom.

The bad? the fridge is a bit too small, and the bathroom tiles feel a bit rough on my feet.

Second, the people:
The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. They make the place feel more 'homely' with their easy-going attitude.

Third, the food:
Because it's an economy hotel, there is no room service available. There is, however, a restaurant and a bar at the lobby. And I must say, I love the comtemporary decor at the restaurant and bar. Made me feel like I'm in an art gallery.

Lastly, the location:
The hotel is probably about 10 minutes walk to the nearest MRT. It is easy to find, though, as it faces Bencoolen Street. Although, you might get a bit confused if you come by taxi, because the actual main entrance is not from Bencoolen Street, but rather from the opposite side.

Overall, it's a great hotel. Surprisingly different from other economy hotels. I would definitely come back. Why wouldn't I, it costs $138 to stay and you get everything you need and more (FREE WIRELESS!!!).

Brand New Budget Hotel in Singapore

Brand New Budget Hotel in Singapore

I stayed at this brand new ibis hotel in Singapore for just S$138 that included free internet (Wireless) connection!

The room still had the typical smell of the new hotel and seems like some of the floors might not be open yet? As I enjoy visiting local plays at the smaller theatres when I visit other countries, it was great to stay in this hotel very close to small playhouses in Singapore!

They did not have any additional services like porters, and I used their airport trolleys (The hotels trolleys look exactly like them!) to carry my bags up to my room.

Overall great hotel for travellers who need to save on accommodation and spend on other activities around the hotel!

People who are working at the hotel seemd very young and funky, this may not appeal to those 60 years old guests who love staying at the traditional 5 staf hotels with the butlers, but for the travellers like me, this is the perfect hotel in Singapore! Definitely return to this hotel for my next art trip to Singapore!
