Great Hotel for the Budget Traveler

I recently went backpacking through Israel and ended up staying in Tel Aviv for a few days. Exploring the heart of the city, I came across a charming hotel right across from the Shalom Tower.

My other lodging arrangements had fallen through, but I was able to get a room at Sun Aviv in suprisingly short notice. It turns out I was lucky, as that weekend the hotel was full of travelers like myself.

The rooms are clean and well appointed. Due to the fact that it is a budget hotel, it is perhaps lacking in certain amenities such as full-meal room service - but that's not why I came to Tel Aviv anyway. I was only a few steps away from some of the best dining in the city. Why waste my trip eating in my room?

The reception clerk was friendly - and was able to give me great advice on where to go out. Turns out the Lilenblum / Nachalat Benyamin area - one of the nightlife hubs of the city, was right across the street on the other side of the tower! And when I came back, he was happy to fix me a coffee and call me a cab to the airport the next morning.

It can get a little noisy because of the location - so I would recommend getting a room not facing the street.

Other than that, highly recommended lodging for those backpackers tired of the hostel scene.
