Some family members in PA. wanted a quick reunion-type weekend in a low profile setting wih extraordinary food and lots of acitivities. Sister-in-law Cindy suggested the perfect spot since she had visited Dinkle Dein House previously. There were 2 full rooms of us so we were accomodated in the cottage adjacent to the main house. The main house is an historic Amish inn done in the Dutch-colonial style and built aound 1910. It is not only furnished beautifully with period and traditional Amish antiques but they serve up what has to be the most delicious and bountiful breakfast I have ever experieced at any other B&B's. The rooms are charmingly decorated with attention to every detail...even providing little pre-treated face towelettes to use to remove makeup! (Cindy and I loved these!) Between the 2 rooms we shared a little fridge stocked with water, juices, soda and room for doggie bags, cheese or bottles of wine (our choice). Friday afternoon as each of us arrived from all parts of the state we were met and greeted by the host,Dave, with a glass of port and an overall view of the place and the area. We then unpacked and proceeded to the outdoor porch for more serious libations.
The next morning breakfast consisted of a perfectly poached pear in a liquor (first course)locally made turkey sausage, blueberry stuffed french toast and biscuit. Juices and coffee, as well as the dishes, were served by our ever-vigilant host. The next morning's breakfast was "savory" with fruit cup ,tex-mex type baked omelette. Again it was so delicious! Hats off to O'Flaherty's for their hospitality AND exquisite food. It is no wonder that this place is rated number #1 of Lancaster B&B's!
