On historic Highway 66, it's about 6 miles from downtown heading right out of the parking lot, and only a mile or so off of Interstate 40.

I stayed in a suite for several days on business at the end of January. The suite had a small kitchen, with a microwave, coffee maker, small fridge with small freezer, two sets of plates/bowls/cups but no silverware -- was told to just go to the inhouse restaurant and get a set there. Luckily, the young man was very accommodating and didn't find this odd.

A small seating area with a sofa and a padded chair facing a TV was of decent size.

The standard bedroom rounded out the suite.

Staff is best judged on an individual basis. When I first checked in the young man was professional and efficient, as have quite a few of the employees in the interim. On the other hand, there are shifts that seem to be manned with out of school youth who seem more intent on taking care of personal business.

The steakhouse on the premises and under the same roof and is home to the breakfast presentation. The staff is low key and courteous whilst attending to all one's needs. The breakfast is standard, but hot. Usually there is either hashbrowns or french toast, bacon or sausage, oatmeal or cream of wheat to choose from. There is a solid selection of oranges, apples or bananas. A variety of yogurt, a selection of cold cereals in those larger than carton portion. Milk, orange juice, apple juice, cranberry juice, lots of water, and of course the coffee, hot chocolate and tea.

I was able to dine once at the steakhouse for dinner and found it to be a good value, about $20 for a ribeye, soup and water. The steak was moist tho not as flavorful as I would have liked, but better than the much more touted one recommended in town. Service was terrific, efficient, pleasant. Very sweet people in that little restaurant.

A pool and a jacuzzi are available, tho the sign says the pool is out of order.

Biggest letdown: no "business center", tho, to be fair, none was advertised. There is a little side room with a desk, a chair, and off to one side a combo fax machine and copier.

Tip: try the Ranch Kitchen next door for lunch as nothing else is open at the hotel. Great food -- huge frybread/sopapilla. Beware: you may need a nap after lunch!
