Pousada Aguas Claras

After surfing the web to decide on the different options that our travel agency gave us, we choose Pousada Aguas Claras. First of all because of the location, as it is only 3 blocks from the center and pretty close (a fifteen minute walk) to some of the beaches. We knew that during the day we wouldn’t mind walking a little to the beaches, but at night, we wanted to be close to the center and avoid walks in areas that we didn’t know how safe they were.

The Inn was beautiful, very Brazilian. It has 23 rooms with comfortable extra side beds, air-conditioning, TV, DVD (with movies available for rent at the reception), hair dryer, safe box, telephone, minibar, parking, two swimming pools, a Jacuzzi, a restaurant, games room, playground, and sauna.

There is a computer with free internet connection available on the premises. Every day we woke up very early, checked our mails and had breakfast. Well, their buffet breakfast would need an entire new review. It’s Brazil, of course we expected a nice treat for our tummies in the mornings, but our expectations were more than fulfilled. The buffet consisted of tropical fruits juices, milk, coffee, tea, cereals, yogurts, tropical fruits (papaya being my favorite), ham and cheese, bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, biscuits and cakes.

Every day (except for Tuesdays if I recall correctly) they offer free shuttles to the beaches, each day to a different one. They depart at 10am and 1pm, and pick you up at 1pm and 4pm. This is a great service that they offer, as you can go to the beaches that are far from the city center and don’t even have to leave the hotel to take other means of transportation.

Cleanness, beautifully decorated rooms, good amenities, yummy breakfast, and perfect location are obviously some of the reasons that make me say that this is the best hotel I have stayed at. But there are other “little” things, details, gestures that make the difference: the kindness of the staff, the most helpful and polite people I have met at a hotel (and I worked at one!).

Every afternoon when we returned to the inn after a long day at the beach, complimentary coffee and tea was ready by the pools. Even one day that it rained all the afternoon - making it almost impossible to leave the inn- they served cakes and muffins for the delight of the guests.

As we stayed more than four nights we received a bottle of champagne as a present on our last night. Cheers Aguas Claras!
