A Resort at B&B Prices!
May 2008. To break the long drive halfway to Denali, we recommend you stay at Alaskan Host B & B, Mile 66 on Parkes Highway. 200 acres of woodland with walking trails, two lakes to row, wildlife museum, so why they advertise as a B & B we can't imagine because they're really a resort with all these features.
My husband and I had the Whale room...2 queens...own bathroom and I loved our cute picture window from where we spotted moose, bald eagles, sandhill cranes, fox....WOW!! The rest of the family ...daughter, son-in-law and 2 teenage grandsons took the larger Denali room also with their own bathroom and private entry.
All of us agreed we'd had enough of cold cereal "continental" breakfasts, so the hot breakfasts at this place were a bonus.
The guys enjoyed the billiard room and wildlife museum complete with Jim's hunting stories, while my daughter and I did some serious birdlife-watching from the upstairs observatory. We all highly recommend Alaskan Host B & B...
Its what all of us traveled across the world to see....the REAL Alaska!!!
Check it out.
