An Enjoyable Time at IRH!

Arrival – We were greeted at the door of the IRH by pleasant bellmen and were off to the lobby desk. Loved the complimentary strawberry daiquiris that we were given upon arrival. It didn’t take me long to make it to the lobby bar where Dean started us off with a few “Fourplays”!

Room - We requested and received a free upgrade from a garden view room to a pool/ocean view room (RM2421) that was wonderful – the sunrises from our balcony were awesome! Air conditioning worked okay and there was also a ceiling fan. We had problems with our TV – they finally ended up bringing us another TV. We used the safe for all of our personals – cash, passport, cameras, etc. It worked well and everything was “safe” in the safe. Mini bar was kept stocked with sodas, water, sparkling water, and Red Stripes.

Grounds – the grounds are beautiful and well kept. Will be awesome when the plants mature. Staff was always working to keep the grounds cleaned and maintained. Marble floors and walkways were beautiful. Plenty of chairs in the pool area. The beach is nice, also plenty of chairs. There are a few rocks in the first couple of feet entering the water, but after that, no problem, mon! There’s a manmade reef right off shore for snorkeling. Went out with Star Friend OB on a catamaran which was a lot of fun - $10 pp! OB was great and so was Star Friend Allan, who helped us get started with our kayaking.

Amenities/Food – Internet was free while I was there, and there was no time limit. There were four PCs. Then IRH actually began the “you gotta get a code” thing on August 29th, the evening before we were leaving. Restaurants were okay. We went to the Japanese and the Cajun restaurants. We got on a waiting list for the steak, but didn’t get in. The best food event for me was the beachside barbeque held one afternoon at Uncle Tony’s. It was a Jamaican bbq with jerk chicken and pork, rice and beans,and veggies. The guys were grilling right there! They served really potent “red” drinks and a steel drum band played while we ate. It was awesome. No major stomach issues with anyone in my party….

Entertainment – only went one night to the theatre. Very good dancers and entertainers! Once again, kudos to the staff! Those kids worked so hard and worked long hours to make sure that the guests had a great time.

Spa – there were spa services available – some done in your room and some on the beach. Thought about it, but never did schedule anything, so no tips on the spa. Sorry…

Tours – went to Dunn’s River Falls, it’s a must do (see my separate TA review). Best thing to do is to hire a private driver. We had one when we went to Dunn’s River and one went we went into downtown MoBay. It’s definitely the way to go…
