Best Things About the Resort:
LBR is a fabulous resort with many extra amenities included. Kayaking, sailing, and windsurfing lessons and rentals are all available on property and included in your room rate. The resort features an amazing pool (with a fun waterslide) and is located right on the beach!
Resort Experience:
Laguna Beach Resort is a wonderful blend of traditional Thai culture and modern Western amenities. You get all the comforts of home with a tropical Thai feel.
The resort features several pools (water-polo pool, splash pool, relaxing pools, scuba pool, kid’s pool, lap pool), a water slide, a hot tub, free non-motorized water sports, and other activities for your enjoyment. Kayaking, sailing, and windsurfing lessons are available at the hotel's semi-private (shared with one other hotel) on-site lagoon.
The hotel offers a kid’s club for the children and even has an elephant that children can ride. Anna, the elephant, comes by the breakfast restaurant every morning, and guests can feed her, pet her, and play with her.
There are a few very nice restaurants on-site, and several more restaurants are accessible via the hotel's water taxi shuttle, which will take you to any of the hotels in the Laguna complex.
There is a spa at the resort that can help further your relaxation if you so desire. I didn't go to the spa, since spa treatments are so reasonable in Bangkok, but judging by the spa menu and pictures, it looks lovely.
If you are looking for a lot of nightlife, you may want to look at other hotels, as LBR is fairly calm and there is not too much going on at night. You can go to the bar for a mellow drink or stroll along the beach, but there are no nightclubs or wild bars nearby. But, if you are looking for a nice, relaxing resort, this is probably good news.
The only caveat about this resort is that it is pretty secluded. There are other hotels nearby, but you are a good drive from town and the main beaches (Patong is about 30 minutes away). Again, if you are looking for a relaxing beach vacation, this is the place to go, but if you are looking for a little more activity, you may want to stay at Patong Beach.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Laguna Beach Resort, as the staff is incredibly friendly and the resort is gorgeous. The grounds are very nice to explore and everything is well-kept. I only wish I had more time to spend there.
