Le Monarque is a small family-run, two-star hotel and a good example of this sort of French hotel. The rooms are on the small side, but clean and well furnished and have a good bathroom. It is great value for money. Just at the top of a pedestrian street leading to the centre of Blois, it is convenient for all of Blois’ attractions. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the chateau. Better still, it has a really good restaurant. It’s worth a visit even if you are not staying there. And even better, it is open on Sundays, when many French restaurants close. Parking can be a bit of a problem, as it can anywhere in the centre of Blois, but the hotel has a small car park at the rear that you can usually squeeze into. Room rates are from 38€ to 72€. The staffs at the reception desk and in the restaurant speak good English.
