Masseria San Martino

Masseria San Martino: Brand new agritourismo, immaculate, and comfortable, with an excellent location for exploring the area. There are 20 rooms, with two large suites for families. We stayed in their terrace suite with sea view. It's run by a lovely Italian family originally from Edmonton, Canada. It is a renovated 300+-year-old farmhouse in a peaceful setting among acres of ancient olive trees. They have a vegetable garden, a lovely chapel, raise rabbits and chickens, and produce one of the best organic olive oils we tasted in the region. We were there for a wonderful evening of olive oil-tasting, dance, and entertainment with their family, locals, and guests. They also hosted a night of opera singing in their courtyard with a group of Korean/Chinese singers that were their guests for the week. They plan on doing weekly events like these for guests and locals. They are also planning on a pool and covered parking within the next year. Their reasonable prices won't last long. This place is going to become very popular once word spreads. We didn’t want to leave!

Masseria San Martino

If you really want to spend a holiday away from noise and get a chance to discover nature, this is the place.

This agriturismo/farm house is located just a few kilometers from the beach and within a brief distance from the most beautiful cities of Puglia.

The accommodation at this masseria is very welcoming and cozy. It has 8 apartments and 2 suites (each with kitchen, bedroom, and private bathroom). If you get a chance to go, I recommend you book the suite, which has a Jacuzzi and a fireplace. The place has just opened recently (August 2004) and is run by the family members who used to live in Canada, therefore you won't have and problems with the language.

The rooms are very big and clean, and the prices are very good. I recommend you visit these places in the area: Ostuni (the white town), Cisternino (the old town is very nice), Alberobello (you can't miss this for the trulli), and a day at the beach is a must. If you don't mind driving 1 hour, you must go to see Lecce for the baroque structures. To get an idea of what Masseria San Martino is all about, you can visit their website to see some photos and rate details.
