This is one of those hostels for laidback travelers on tight budgets but still wanting to party and meet people. It’s also a cheap temporary residence for some folks.
Walking distance to San Telmo night clubs and bars and the subway (Estacion Constitucion / San Juan) and bus lines next corner on Avenida 9 de Julio also make this End of the World a reasonable choice.
We chose the cheapest of the six room types, a mixed dorm for 6 people in bunk beds with old mattresses. People in our room, even though we were sharing it with girls only, couldn’t care less about cleanliness, the dorm was a total mess and we could tell no staff had been there in months but we didn’t take that as a big deal. If you would, don’t even bother going there. The point is our linens were clean and after all what to expect at five dollars a night. Also the bathrooms - most private and one with a double shower - are brand new (the house went through some renovations in March 2007) and look clean.
A pool table takes almost all the space in the lobby where the check inn office and the only computer with free internet are located as well, however there are other common areas and three small kitchens on different floors.
They got cheap beer but a lot of places around sell one liter bottles cheaper and colder. We only had hard times to get the glasses, seems like everybody is always chasing them and whoever is luck enough to get one has to hold on to it the whole stay.
Again, it’s a social hostel, we only took our naps late afternoons when it was preety calm, not sure how noisy it would be if we actually wanted to sleep at night.
Breakfast is really poor so don’t count on it.
Free wi-fi makes up for the only computer in the lobby, the reason why there was no long lines.
Price range: from U$7 (6 bed mixed dorm) to U$15 (single private ensuite).
