I have actually previously worked in the hospitality/guest service industry, and as a result I know what to expect. Some of my friends would argue that I expect too much. I recently took a weekend to just escape. I choose the beautiful town of Madison, Georgia.
Madison is rich in history, architecture, fine arts, antiques, and foods. I am always weary to book a B&B, so I choose The James Madison Inn. It's a new property that has been architecturally designed and decorated to look classily dated. In fact, that was one of my first questions upon my arrival, "What was this building before it was an Inn?" "Why a vacant lot," they answered, "as this is new construction." The Inn offers 19 rooms, each named after a historic Madison home. The rooms are spacious and include custom furniture, functional fireplace, crown moldings, custom bedding, tiled bathrooms with double vanity, rain showers, etc. They truly spared no expense, and have paid impeccable attention to detail. The old world feel to the place is only complimented with modern amenities like wireless Internet access, flat screen televisions, state-of-the-art media room, exercise facility, wake-up call capabilities, etc. Anyway, that's just the physical amenities.
While they are unique enough, what really sets this place apart from any other is the true Southern hospitality that is given. I was always greeted by name and the staff are so friendly, that they just make you smile. They were eager to better my Madison experience and offered to make dinner recommendations and reservations. I quickly accepted. I ate at Town 220 Bistro, and the food was phenomenal!
Anyway, they also scheduled Shiatsu message for me with one of the local day spas. The message was wonderful! Oh, and each morning they offer a gourmet continental breakfast included with the room. They actually fly in pastries from Hawaii and freshly bake them for you that morning. I could go on and on about The James Madison Inn, but I could not recommend a better place to stay in such a cute vibrant little town. They also have a virtual tour from their website which I also recommend you take a look at (www.jamesmadisoninn.com).
