Feels Like Home

The first time we went at Casa Rovai was on may 2006. We appreciated that place first because of the owners that traited us as if we were part of their family. Casa Rovai is in the touristic center. We are always about five minutes of all the touristics attracts. The rooms are very clear and the room service with Beatrice is very nice. Every morning, the breakfast is ready for the guests.

We went twice and certainly our next visit at Florence we will live at Casa Rovai

Casa Rovai

The unassuming wooden door off a little side street doesn't seem like much, but the six rooms offered by Casa Rovai on the second floor are spacious, clean, and lovely. Twelve foot ceilings and frescoes, wall sconces, newly refurbished bathrooms, and antiques in the rooms and contemporary leather furniture in the common areas make for an eclectic but comfortable feel. The lobby and breakfast area opens onto a small balcony overlooking a central courtyard, where, half hidden by lush greenery you can listen to the talented opera singer who lives elsewhere in the building practice, while watching clean linens float on laundry lines above.

Breakfast is simple but delicious, is available for two full hours, and no one objects if you take an extra piece of fresh fruit for later on. There is air-conditioning in the rooms, and free Internet access in the breakfast room.

But the best thing about Casa Rovai is the staff. Beatrice is in charge of breakfast and also dishes out copious lovely smiles. Dara keeps the rooms clean and well-supplied, and Arianna, who speaks four languages, is perhaps the nicest, most patient, and accommodating concierge I have ever met. Her time and expertise is free, and her suggestions for where to eat and what to see were wonderful and helped us avoid some of the worst tourist crush. She suggested and made reservations for us in advance at the Accademia and Uffizi, and helped with dinner reservations as well, as we did not speak Italian.

My only concern is that my complimentary review here will make Casa Rovai so popular that I will not be able to get a reservation!

Grazie mille, Casa Rovai!

Deborah
