Sanctuary Palms

A very high end bed-and-breakfast in Paihia. It was located high up on the hillside, making for very beautiful views, albeit at the cost of being somewhat inconvenient. To be honest, the location was a bit confusing at first, but it worked out in the end.

We stayed in the Pacifika Suite. The interior of the rooms we had (located right about the garage/driveway) were well appointed, with a large bathtub and open shower in the master suite. There were several TVs throughout the area, including a VCR in the main room. Speaking of the main room, a full kitchen (dishes, cookware and flatware provided) came with the unit.

This was a very good place for us to base out of during our time in the upper part of the North Island. It was a short drive over to Waipoua National Forest/Tane Mahuta and the main part of town was only a few minutes away. Close enough for convenience, far enough away that we had lots of privacy.

We stayed for about three nights. I believe our nightly rate was around $300 (US).
