This is truly a unique hotel. The brainchild of a Dutch philanthropist who restored a deteriorating neighborhood with beautiful Dutch colonial architecture and turned it into a luxury hotel!

Your room will typically open onto a courtyard or even a cobblestone street. It’s quaint, charming, and romantic with excellent, friendly service. Amenities include two beautiful but smallish swimming pools, a well equipped fitness center and small spa, several wonderful dining options, and upscale rooms with every modern convenience. Unusual amenities include an onsite museum dedicated to African art and culture with an emphasis on the slave trade and it's atrocities. It was a very moving exhibit and it made my children VERY uncomfortable -- thank God!

An in-town location makes it great for shopping and dining. I prefer to drive to the west coach beaches but the hotel has a beach club nearby they will shuttle you to.

This place is well worth a visit even if you are not staying here!
