The reception of Athama Palace is a spiral stairs up from the front restaurant that serves good Indian food. The rooms are another flight of stairs up. The room is en-suite, with cable TV and drinking water provided free of charge. However, the room is a bit overpriced, as are most of the hotels in Male. In fact, this hotel is one of the cheapest mid-range hotels we could find.
Note that very early in the morning, the morning prayers start in the mosques of Male. Wear earplugs to sleep if you do not want to be awakened by the chorus of sura’ echoing each other before cocks start to crow.
