Posada Real

Posada Real in Los Cabos is a bang for your buck. This hotel is done in Sante Fe style low rise refurbished about 12 years ago but could use another facelift especially in the lobby area. The grounds surrounding the hotel are kept manicured. The courtyard has beautiful cactus everywhere. The best thing about the hotel, it is very low keyed, pool and beach area never crowed, drinks are not watered down and the hotel staff are very attentive. You can get all inclusive packages for $800 for two not including airfare for five nights. The breakfast buffet was great. The chef will make omelets any style or quesadilla any way you like. Lunch is either a buffet or a poolside restaurant with hamburgers, club sandwiches, tacos, and many other things. Dinner can be monotonous. The buffet is similar to lunch and you have no other options for dinning. Since the cost for the hotel was so inexpensive, we did not mind spending money to go out into town for dinner a few nights. Other immensities are a Jacuzzi, tennis courts, wireless Internet, and a message therapist on the beach.

All rooms have either a view of the courtyard or the view of the Sea of Cortez. My only complaint is next door to this complex, is a hotel under construction and the sight is not very attractive and does cut the view of the sea by 75% plus you can hear the banging of hammers on your terrace and on the beach. The rooms were sufficient. A bit dated and could use a facelift, the bathrooms same. The maids do a good job in cleaning the rooms and changing the bed sheets daily. The water is purified but I would use bottled water for brushing my teeth. The hotel supplies it at no additional cost. One day the water out of the shower was rusty. Glad I did not drink the water.

The hotel is located in walking distance to the Mega Mart. At this store you can buy clothing, food, toiletries, and alcohol. Beware of the timeshare people, they are all over this store. You are a 10 minute bus ride to downtown San Jose del Cabo. You catch the bus at the top of the entrance to the hotel. You can catch the bus to Cabo San Lucas by the Mega Mart, it is a 30 minute ride.

I would not recommend this hotel. I think it is great for the young, the spring break clientele. I used all of my 150,00 air miles for this trip and I was sorry I did but glad I did not pay for it using cash.
