Description: Brierley Hill is what you would dream of if you could dream up a bed and breakfast. The house is only 12 years old and appears to have been built to be a bed-and-breakfast. Situated high up on a hill it has absolutely spectacular views. Everything here runs like clockwork, Ken and Joyce have seen to your every comfort and they have anticipated your every need.
Our room
Once Upon A Time was on the second floor at the end of the hall. It is the most romantic room in the world. The king size bed has a wrought iron canopy with maroon velvet curtains at the corners. The windows also have velvet curtains with lace under curtains. The bed cover is a rich tea stain color. The combination is very striking. There are rich colored velvet pillows and two chairs flanking a beautiful chest. The bathroom is white with a three-sided glass shower and a pedestal sink. The amenities are from Gilchrist and Soames and include bath foam and shampoo, mouthwash, bath beads (since we have no tub this one surprised me), and mouthwash. We also have two very nice robes, not just the regular terry kind.
What really makes this place stand out being the public areas. When you first come up the stairs to the second floor there is a coffee bar. When we arrived there was a plate of fresh fudge, fruit, biscotti and a machine that will make individual cups of coffee or tea. There was also a bowl of candy bars. The computer is also located here is you need it or they offer wireless. On the opposite side of the area are a sofa and chairs with a TV and a vast collection of CD’s which you may watch there or bring to your room to watch. There is an electric stove in our room if you want to create atmosphere and also a ceiling fan.
Breakfast is served between 8:30am.and 9:30am. You can choose to eat out on the porch if the weather cooperates. It was too cool for my tastes but a young couple did choose to eat there. Dining is not communal, it is at individual tables. Our breakfast began with choice of hot and cold beverages. You let them know when you check in what you prefer, coffee, tea, decaf. You also have your choice of orange, apple, cranberry, grape, or grapefruit juice. This was followed by strawberry banana soup. Which was just as delicious as it sounds and served in a very attractive stemmed glass. The main course was peach crème brulee french toast with bacon and cheese grits, what is not to like about that?
When it is time to leave Ken escorts you out onto the deck and takes your picture. He then prints it out and gives you a framed copy as a souvenir. I can’t recommend this place enough, it was everything I expected and so much more.
