We were first placed in a "bay view" room, which was on the front of the building, and we were very disappointed. Yes, you have a view of the bay, but to see it, you look across Key Biscayne about one to two miles and see a lot of unsightly older buildings too. Also, for an hour or so on Sunday, there was a bus parked in front, and the noise and fumes made it impossible to sit out on the verandah. The "ocean view" or ocean-front rooms are far superior.
The rooms are very comfortable, well-appointed, and well-maintained. We noticed a lot of families who seemed very comfortable. The service is truly remarkable. The staff is extremely helpful and courteous.
With regards to restaurants, there is only one, and it's quite expensive. It's not where I'd want to have dinner every night. Otherwise, the restaurant at the pool is limited, but the food and service were excellent. There are other restaurants close to the hotel, and we particularly enjoyed an Asian restaurant recommended by the hotel.
Don't bother with a side trip to Coconut Grove. It has the same shops that are in every city, and the bars and restaurants seem more suitable for the Spring Break crowd.
