An Enjoyable Holiday

Arrived at the Hotel after a long flight and a long drive from the airport - all very tired and just wanted to get unpacked and sleep. One member of the staff came and greeted us and got us sorted for our building and room as quickly as possible. Very friendly and even recommended us an owners clubcard which gave us the chance to use the facilities for free even though we were busy for most days. We were then told by a following member of staff the next day that we had been given an apartment that was infact due to be refurbished and was not supposed to be available to any people, however, the actual appartment was clean with no damages what so ever, we had regular towel changes throughout the week and out apartment was kept clean. Overall we were extremely pleased with it and would definetly recommend this resort to any holiday makers who are planning to go to Mystic Dunes Resort.

A Case Study of Bad Hospitality

This place isn’t welcoming, hospitable or service oriented. Take my advice - if you are going on a vacation, you do not want to stay here!

Here’s what you need to know about Mystic Dunes. It’s a hotel that is part of the broader hospitality industry, yet doesn’t have a clue as to how to provide good hospitality. It’s a hotel that will not provide you with good service. It’s a place that lacks cleaning services or cleaning skills for that matter. It’s a hotel that is falsely marketed online. It’s a hotel that you DO NOT want to stay at!

We have had nothing but great experiences at all of the timeshares we’ve visited prior to Mystic Dunes. The grounds are beautify and well kept, but don’t let that fool you - It was a nightmare from the very beginning. After checking in we moved to 3 different rooms before we found one that was acceptable (and still not great). At Mystic Dunes they have over 30 buildings on site and some of the earliest buildings are quite old and run down. The resort certainly wasn’t busy enough to warrant being stuck in one of the oldest rooms on their property. This first room looked nothing like the pictures we saw online. It was old, badly decorated and really run down - if I didn’t know any better I’d say they were looking to create an 80’s themed room with mirrored walls throughout the unit and a tacky green bath tub in the master bedroom! The room we ended up in was newer but wasn’t much better. The internet was expensive, dial-up and complicated. It was something like $30/day to have our room cleaned (vacuumed, new towels – that sort of thing). We finally paid for the mid-week cleaning service, which wasn’t cleaning service at all. For a fee of $25, hair was left on the floor, the garbage cans were left full and the bathroom counters weren’t even cleaned!

The last thing I will mention is the lack of service at Mystic Dunes. My Dad left his backpack in one of the many rooms we were placed in first and security collected it, but wouldn’t bring it to him. Most hotel employees would bring this directly to your room, but at Mystic Dunes my Dad had to drive all around the property searching for security, which turned out to be in a dark hidden alley. Service isn’t in their vocabulary, just another reason why you should not vacation at Mystic Dunes!

Beware: Dangerous and Rude Service

I went there for a presentation, and sure the place was nice, think about how unsafe it is for children. In the rooms are glass tables, with mirrors in every room, ceiling high. The chairs are metal, and the floor are tile. They say that this is a family oriented place to stay, I say they are wrong.
I had told this to the presentation man who was helping us, and he had said he had heard a lot of things but this is not one of them. He had told me that I was lying and that it couldn't be possible. He said I was just saying that to not make him feel bad, when that was not my purpose. However, it should make him feel bad since he was the one working for a place like this.
They brag about how big they're golf course is and how wonderful their rooms are, but their rooms are dangerous, and what's more, it's like you are living on the course! I would feel scared to sit by he window, afraid that a ball might come flying in to hit me square on the face!
I also think it is a hustle to just get to the entrance, this way and that, it's like a maze.
The man who had helped me also said that their goal is to make sure that your stay would be spectacular, and that everyone goes on vacation to have fun and relax. Relaxing is true, but why would you go on vacation just to stay at a resort. I went to Orlando to go to the amusement parks and to see the sights, not to sit in my room the whole day, every day.
When I had declined the man, I went to the gift area, and the woman was so RUDE! I have never been so ill treated in my life.

Mystic Dunes Resort

Our family spent our most recent family vacation at Mystic Dunes Resort in Orlando, FL. We purchased our vacation from a website called seeanddo.com. We had never heard of this company or website before so were nervous at first, but after we called and made our reservations, everything went very smoothly.

Driving to the hotel, we had to travel through construction on the interstate. A quick travel tip is to make sure you're paying attention to make sure that you get off on the correct exit.

After we arrived at the resort, we checked into our room and I immediately checked to make sure the place was clean. It passed the inspection with an A+. There was a full kitchen, and I loved the hot tub in our bedroom.

The kids liked the pools and mini-golf, and my husband liked the regular golf course. All in all, we would definitely recommend Mystic Dunes to families looking for rooms with LOTS of space, plus a location that's very close to Disney.

Mystic Dunes Resort and Golf Club

My family and I used to stay here when it was known as The Palms and it was really nice, but then it changed for the worse to Mystic Dunes Resort. Our room wasn't clean and we found multiple water bugs throughout the kitchen and bedrooms. The floors were filthy along with the pools. The staff were rude and didn't listen to our request of a DVD player. Our room was really far from the main pool and activities, but the promised shuttle was non existent. There was constant trash in the hallways that stayed there throughout our seven days. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
