The Park Plaza is a new four-star hotel in the centre of Cardiff. It has about 120 rooms on three floors. And it's swish! Very "design" - lots of funky lighting and art work everywhere.
Our room was an Executive one - on special offer. It wasn't huge but was very well equipped and quite funky.
It was all window on one side, facing over trees and canal, but with no road noise at all from the road beyond that. The curtains - both sheer and heavy - could all be drawn back, but also totally blocked out the light when necessary.
The bed was huge - long enough even for hubby. There was air conditioning, a flat screen TV with a huge range of channels and movies, a huge mirror behind the dressing table unit, and a nice arm chair. One all inclusive unit contained plenty of clothes storage (both drawers and hanging), a mini bar, tea and coffee-making facilities, hidden away neatly. The bathroom had a long bath with both an overhead shower and hand held one - handy if you just want to wash your hair!
Everything you could want really - and being executive means bathrobes and slippers too!
Breakfast was a buffet - huge variety of food, from the cooked breakfast, to fruit, yoghurts, croissants, cereal and more, all served in the Laguna restaurant area on the ground floor.
The staff were all very friendly, efficient, and helpful. The central location was also perfect for seeing the city.
I'd definitely stay at a Park Plaza again based on this experience. If they'd had their own dedicated parking (they have a negotiated rate with the NCP opposite), it would have been perfect!
