This is a great resort to stay at if you want to be at the beach and enjoy being papmered at a spa. The resort is located about 45 minutes from the center of town and is fairly isolated from the outside world.
The decor of this hotel is almost reminizcent of a "Disney"-type hotel in that it is open air in the common areas and has wonderful landscaping that is well maintained. It sits on the beach, Bay of Bengal, and gets a great breeze coming in.
The rooms have three different offerings. there is the main building with around 100 or so rooms. I beach theme to them complete with minibar, in room internet and a great view of the ocean. There are also villas in two different sizes which feature among other things, hammocks or patio swings and a private outdoor shower, complete with your own palm tree. The main rooms are very spacious and the bathroom is pretty big as well when compared to most other standard type chain hotels.
The furnishings in the room include the standard bed and dressers, work desk, etc.. but also have a smill sitting area with two chairs and a cocktail table. Because water is such an issue for non locals, they provide complimentary mineral water in addition to the various treats in the minibar.
The service here is excellent, very guest-friendly. In addition to a great staff, they have a magnificent pool with a swim up bar, a fitness center, and a spa which has a host of services avaialable.
The hotel features three dining options as well as two bars. The most impressive of the three is an outdoor mediterranian themed place called the upper deck. I had a true "cultural convergence" moment there one night as I was in India, eating Gnocci, drinking vodka, and litening to the Gypsy Kings on the sound system playing a spanish version of the eagles, "Hotel California". But it was awesome to dine under the stars.
I would reccomend this place for anyone wanting to escape for a few days. This also attracts a good business crowd because of it's proximity to Chennai's IT Corridor of up and coming BPO Companies.
