First of all let me tell you that I am not the outdoors type. When I heard it would take about 2 hours by bus, dirt road, then by boat to get to our Hotel, believe me, I was not excited. When we got there and saw our cottage, on stilts, small bathroom, good size bedroom, nice porch - I still wasn't excited. One TV at the bar, no TV in the room, one international phone at the bar, no phone in the room. A pool and a dining room where all meals were served buffet-style, I was still not excited.

But after 3 days and 2 nights there it was great, and I was excited. It was really a great stay, going by boat around the canals was fantastic. Monkeys, birds, all kinds of wild life, were fantastic. The area where the rooms were was just as exciting. The staff were great, the boat drivers, the tour guide, the bartender, the manager, all were fantastic. I would definitely go back. If you are going to Costa Rica you have to go to the Tortuguero area. Wait to hear a Howler Monkey - unbelievable.
