The Old Parsonage Guest House

The owner of the Old Parsonage Guest House, Rosalie, bills it on the website as “the best kept secret in the Seabrook/Kemah area”; she doesn’t lie. Two small houses comprise the one entity. We were scheduled to stay in and had already paid for the smaller house, but before our trip, Rosalie told us that the larger house just became available, so she allowed us to stay in the larger house for the price of the smaller one. That generous spirit continued throughout our vacation.
This house is not a typical B&B. Before guests arrive, Rosalie stocks the house with breakfast items of their choosing for the entire vacation — then she disappears. Guests don’t ever see her unless they need something, which I think would be an extreme circumstance since she keeps the house well-stocked with towels, ice, bathroom amenities, kitchen essentials, etc. We had cookware and the necessary small appliances with which to cook our breakfast, silverware with which to eat it and plates and cups from which to eat and drink. We even prepped, cooked, served and cleaned up after a dinner for eight from scratch! The only thing we needed to buy for the dinner was the food.
The property was gorgeous even in December, and it felt very safe. The houses have private driveways and are close to cute little Seabrook shops as well as the Kemah Boardwalk. The house has two bedrooms, a surprisingly large bathroom, a kitchen (with dishwasher), a living room with a combo LCD TV/DVD player, a washer and dryer unit and a grill in the backyard. Having two couples stay in this one house did not ever feel cramped. Instead, having a “home” to come home to felt wonderful after a busy day of visiting relatives. All four of us were extremely impressed with the work Rosalie has put into this property, and we are already planning a return trip during warmer weather.
