My wife and I travel to Dublin on a regular basis, and stay mainly at hotels. On this occasion we visited Dublin for the Rugby game Ireland Vs France in Croke Park. We stayed at a B&B in Drumcondra called Tinode House. The owner PJ Dunne was a great host and we found that the breakfast and the quality of the room were of the highest quality I have ever found travelling in Ireland.

TINODE HOUSE

It was my very good fortune to find Tinode House and I would like to recommend it to anyone who will be visiting Dublin, especially those people using the Dublin Airport. I sent an e-mail to Mr. PJ Dunne, the owner, and he quickly responded with a very detailed e-mail which gave reservation instructions and tips on using the city bus to reach his B & B. Upon his advice, I decided to stay at Tinode House for two days at the end of my trip and turn in the rental car and take public transportation to the B & B. Having been in Dublin twice before, I knew that a car would not be necessary and in fact would be a nuisance. By dropping off the car two days in advance, the money saved paid for the cost of the stay at the B & B.

Two days before our departure from the Dublin Airport, I dropped the car off at the airport rental return. One warning there is NO shuttle bus from the car rental return area to the terminal and one must walk uphill with their luggage to the departure area. There are several buses which will take you to the B & B from the airport including #16 & #41. The bus stop is literally at the front door of Tinode House.

The furnishings and rooms of Tinode House are excellent. Our second floor room had two comfortable beds with fluffy comforters, a chair, decorative fireplace and wardrobe. The en-suite bathroom was clean and modern. Downstairs is a payphone which comes in handy when trying to find a quiet place for making telephone calls. The dining room was attractively furnished and a breakfast menu is available. Off of the dining room is a comfortable glass enclosed sitting room. There are no fewer than seven bus lines which stop at the front door of the B & B which take you into the center of Dublin. Mr. Dunne has prepared pre-printed touring advice and says that many of his guests have found this most helpful when visiting the sights of Dublin city. Indeed it is obvious that Mr. Dunne has taken great care in establishing and maintaining his B & B. He has thought of every detail that a visitor might need and Tinode House is very convenient and comfortable. I suggest that you look at the website and book well in advance.
