Description: When you live in a tourist town it can become overwhelming and sometimes you just need to get away and become a tourist yourself. On those occasions when we can't go far or for long we chose "getaways" within a few hours from home.
This time, very limited on time, we opted to accept an opportunity to stay at Big Cedar Lodge in a timeshare condo. I am SO glad we did.
10-15 minutes South of Branson but worlds away, we entered a world far from anything that felt touristy or commercial. Instead we entered a woodsy type resort with every possible amenity anyone could ask or imagine. Awesome accommodations, great restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools (plural on both), a lazy river (not opened just then), horseback riding at their own guest-only stables, a spa, exercise/gym, video gameroom, clubhouses (plural), gift shops (plural), free shuttle not only to and from Branson or elsewhere, but also around the resort. The are affiliates of a nature facility and it too was a wonderful experience of walking ,riding, shuttling, and learning.
Service was beyond anyone's expectations or demands, they were happy to accommodate any request we had, and I mean happy. Cookies in the condo each night. Even if you didn't have something or needed extra, you could count to 100 and it was brought to you.
They even do your shopping for your condo refrigerator if you give them a shopping list ahead of time.
My kids can be bored very quickly, and Big Cedar Lodge, outside of Beaches Resorts in the Caribbean, is the ONLY place I have ever had my kids completely pacified, and me happy.
If you like truly 5-star accommodations, being treated like royalty, and want a honest to goodness "getaway" from a typical tourist type resort, THIS is it.
I do recommend the cabin verses the condo only because as nice as the condos are, OH MY GOSH are the cabins under-rated, in fact, there is no rating for them it would be all of 10-stars. Pure luxury.
