Had a Great Time at the Tam

Had a Great Time at the Tam

My wife and I stayed at the Tamarijn with our 7 year old son from December 6 to 20. We had a great time! The rooms are basic, but we couldn't have cared less about that. We were there for the surf, sand, sun and sights! The room was clean and comfortable, so that made us happy. The quality and variety of food at the Tam and Divi kept us happy for 2 weeks. We saw some repeats by the 2nd week, but it had been long enough in between that it didn't bother us. We liked Paparazzi the best and Ginger was just ok, the rest falling in between. My wife has food allergies and she was always able to find something to eat. The low-rise area where the Tam is located is much more relaxed than the high-rise area further north. We much preferred the low-rise area. Downtown Oranjestad was about a 20 minute walk from the Tam. I walked there on numerous occasions by myself and never had any problems. I always felt quite safe on this island. My son had a great time playing in the ocean and swimming in the pools. The only problem we had was with the kids club, which was not at all well attended by other kids, so we didn't bother booking him into that. He did fine meeting other kids his age the second week we were there. The first week, he wasn't able to find any suitable playmates, but we made do by going to the ocean and bodysurfing. I would also recommend one of the jeep tours. We had a good time going to the natural pool on the other side of the island.

Tamarjin All Inclusive Aruba

Tamarjin All Inclusive Aruba

The reason we decided to pick Aruba for our honeymoon was mostly based on the advice of other people. My husband had never been to the Caribbean and I had, although never to Aruba. It was such a great choice! Our honeymoon was absolutely amazing, and not just because we were in newly wedded bliss, but everything about our trip was incredible. One of the major reasons why Aruba was so appealing is because for whatever reason, they are not located in the "hurricane belt", and we got married in September, hurricane season. However, because of the harsh hurricane season, it did pull out a lot of the cool breeze that Aruba is known for, making it very, very hot for us. But, when you are surrounded by pools and water and have an air-conditioned room, it does not seem so bad.

All of the food was all included in the price. There were no limitations—you could eat as much as you wanted, whenever you wanted... and we did. We both gained at least 5 pounds on the trip. But almost as good as the food was that the alcohol was included as well. There were five restaurants to choose from and a number of great bars to have drinks. We had breakfast every morning right in front of blue waters and sat at the bar, which also looked out over the water. Anything you wanted was at your fingertips.

Also, because this is a sister resort to the more-expensive Divi, located right next door, you got to share all of their amenities. Since we had signed up for the honeymoon package they put us together with other honeymooners, planned activities and gave us champagne, T-shirts, and a sunset dinner overlooking the ocean.

Our room was awesome too. We had a ground-floor room that overlooked the ocean! There was a sliding glass door that put us right on the beach, so coming in and out of the water was so easy; you didn't have to lug all your things around. We did rent a car for a day to tour the island, which I recommend doing, as it was quite humbling to see the other side of the island, which is clearly not geared toward tourists. Even that was made easy, the rental company picked us up right at the front of the hotel. We also traveled into town quite often for shopping, and the bus picked us up about about 200 yards from the front of the hotel. My husband fell in love with the casinos; I think we were there just about every night, but even that was within walking distance, and if you didn't feel like walking you could take the golf cart transportation provided by the hotel at no charge. We had a great time, and it won't ever be forgotten! We highly recommend it for any time, not just a honeymoon!
