Burnham Hotel

The Burnham Hotel is the first and oldest hotel in Baguio City, within a short walk from the bus, recommended in the Lonely Planet Guide. The staff are so friendly, helpful, knowledgeable for the visitor, and it makes up for a lot of shortcomings for this seventeen room place with 24 hour access.

This place offers free Wi-Fi, Check-In Cafe restaurant open 7am-9pm in the hotel is passable if you're hungry and don't want to go any further for food, an arts and crafts store. The room is very basic and humble settings with a fan, no a/c, which is doable during their cool months, during the late evenings with the windows open for a cool evening breeze. Some shortcomings we found are the shower drain is very slow and a puddle builds up very fast. The electrical outlets are worn and had a somewhat difficult time getting our plugs to stay in, while a couple of the power outlets had no power. Mildew is also a small problem here.

We were able to book a room at this hotel while en route on the bus to Baguio that morning of our arrival, offered to view the room before accepting the room first.

Despite all these shortcomings, having free Wi-Fi access, the friendly, helpful, knowledgeable hotel staff make up for a lot. The single twin size beds were comfortable enough for a good night's rest. Recommended for those who are willing to overlook these shortfalls and not for those turning up their noses at the slightest shortcoming. Outside local calls are PHP 10 for the first 3 minutes, PHP 2 for each minute after. Checkout is noon. Credit cards accepted.
