The Heritage

The Heritage Resort has a lot more to offer than your average run of the mill hotel. I purchased my visit here on Sky Auction at a highly discounted price. I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect, some resorts offer a lot of amenities but the rooms are ultra simple. This was not quite the case here.

Our room had two double beds with very comfortable pillow tops. Our sheets were high quality and smelled wonderful. We had a sleeper sofa, a huge closet, desk and chair. It was a good size room and certainly everything that we had hoped for given the price we had paid. There was an entertainment center, a clock radio, and the TV had a good selection of cable channels. There was a coffee pot and the bathroom had all the usual amenities and a blow dryer. There was a great makeup light and there was an extra sink in the room. Wi-Fi is also available in all the rooms.

There are two restaurants onsite and we took advantage of both of them. Shadrack’s is a pub and though it is very attractive with three pool tables and six large screen TVs we found the service to be somewhat lacking. However, after a couple of drinks and some dessert we were a lot more forgiving.

Eight Mile Brook is the formal restaurant. We ate breakfast there and it was a fabulous buffet. You had the choice of doing a continental buffet which had cereal, Danish and lots of other cold choices. The second table had the hot offerings. The price for the buffet was surprisingly reasonable considering that we were a captive audience. The large windows open out onto the spacious grounds.

The Heritage is a resort so beyond comfortable rooms, an exceptional spa and good food options they also offer both an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool, sauna, hot tub, steam rooms, exercise room, tennis courts and hiking trails. You can rent a mountain bike and for the golfers there is a golf course adjacent . They even have a children’s program available called the Hideout.

I found the Heritage to be a great place for an escape weekend and while not luxurious it was very comfortable. You get the warm feeling as soon as you walk past the check-in desk and see the comfortable couch and roaring fire. Parking is free in their large outdoor lot.
