A Little Inn by the Sea sits on the palm studded beach just outside the Ft. Lauderdale city limits in the village of Lauderdale by the Sea. Probably built in the 60's, the Inn offers regular hotel rooms and apartment-type rooms with kitchens and separate bedrooms. Traveling with my family, we chose a beachfront one bedroom apt from the Inn's website. The photos on the site are dressed up quite a bit but the place was clean and the location was great. Miles of beach extended in both directions just outside of the intimate pool area and there were half a dozen restaurants within a few blocks.
There are no luxuries here, and it would've been easier to 'leave the kitchen as we found it' had there been dish washing liquid provided, but we begged some from the inn keeper (who was happy to provide some from her own kitchen) and being 'backpack travelers', we don't sweat the small stuff. It was perfect for our needs and coffee on the balcony, watching the sun come up out of the Atlantic was marvelous. The four of us stayed for under $130 per night including a "deluxe" breakfast buffet (that was in actuality very basic), but still an excellent value for south Florida.
