Surprise for my Wife

  • November 6, 2008

I planned a surprise anniversary trip (and our vacation) to Nantucket this summer. It was towards the end of June so the island wasn't as packed. My wife and I had the best time though. We walked to the beach and to downtown, rode bikes to Sconset, and visited some of the historic buildings. Our favorite spot is the beach just up the road to the right off Cliff Road. We of course loved the sandwiches at Something Natural, but who doesn't?

Everyone at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice and renovated. We stayed in The Black Orchid Room which was like new. The small private porch was convenient every morning for breakfast. We also loved the daily baked cookies. We couldn't wait to get back from the beach, just in time to smell them as we walked in. My wife was very happy. We're planning to come back next summer.

Great Choice...

We've been to Nantucket several times and to The Century House three times. We stay on the first floor usually since the stairs are a little challenging for us. My wife and I love to come because it's a quiet, mainly-couples, walking distance to town place, which is perfect for us. We love the area of Cliff Road and the restaurants in Nantucket. The breakfast is good. The rooms are always nice, crisp and clean. We like to sit on the outside patio. And my wife loves of course the romantic aspect of the inn. Overall this is a good choice for anyone looking to visit Nantucket.

Great Place to Celebrate our Anniversary

The Century House is a little gem on Nantucket Island, comfortable, quiet, luxurious, with lots of charm and history. We spent our anniversary here which was very relaxing. We loved the location, the breakfast and our room White Narcissus which was completely renovated this year. There were no pictures of this room on the website but we took a chance and booked it. We were pleasantly surprised with the new décor and the comfortable bed. This is a corner room, bright, quiet, and true Nantucket feel. We will definitely return here.

Charming Inn, Couldn't be Better!

As our first timers visiting Nantucket Island, we had no idea what to expect. We had mixed feelings about coming in high season after reading reviews of the island being crowded. But we decided to give this bed and breakfast a try and were not disappointed. This inn is AMAZING, very quiet and charming. It's been majorly renovated. The location made the difference I think. It's tucked away from the main area of town, yet close to the beach and walkable to downtown. Also the wraparoud porch was attractive to us because we wanted to be outside as much as possible. They also had a garden with lounge chairs for those of us who love to be out in the sun.

We looked forward to the breakfast every morning, mingling with other guests who were like us, just wanting a nice quiet bb where we could get away from all the hustle and bustle of daily life. Our entire stay was very peaceful and stress-free. Without a doubt this will be the place we will return to again and again.

Century House

I've been told that Nantucket Island is the perfect getaway; however, now I know that the Century House is the only place to stay while visiting. This magnificent B&B is located on a picturesque corner near the downtown shopping area on Main St., which was wonderful because I did not pick up a set of car keys during the entire trip!

Upon entering the living area, I could smell the sweet aroma of freshly baked cookies and soon received a warm welcome from the staff. After eating a delicious snack, I was taken up to the Beach Blossom room on the third floor and to my amazement, I had a clear, distant view of the harbor. The room itself was enchanting with antique furniture, floral decor, and modern amenities. The neighboring area was quiet and the wraparound porch inviting.

I can't wait to return next summer and highly recommend staying at this lovely bed and breakfast!
