New Victoria Hotel

The New Victoria Hotel is place in a fairly safe area of Kisumu and looks pleasant enough from the outside. The price appears to be very reasonable less than £10 for a double for 1 night, but when you realise there are several hotels in this price range it suddenly becomes less so.
The Plus Points
1) The view of Lake Victoria is fabulous.
2) All channels on the TV work, (my wife's Kenyan and in Nairobi we are lucky to get all the channels on any given day).
3) The price.
4) The beds really are doubles not 2 twins shoved together.
The Minus Points
1) The nets had seriously large holes in them that a rat could have got through them.
2)The hot water is only on at certain times of the day and night (6-9am and pm) but the management don't tell you that, we checked in at 3ish in the afternoon and ended up having cold showers (not good).
3)The management took a can't be bothered attitude when informed (was this because my wife is Afro-Kenyan not Asian Kenyan as the owners?)
4) It's purportedly a B&B - Breakfast was a juice and fried egg or Spanish Omelette.
Overall I would have to say there are several hotels in the same price bracket - try one of them there must be a better deal somewhere and when you find it let us all know.
