Fairfield Inn Bellevue

Fairfield Inn Bellevue

I’m getting to be quite the expert on Fairfield Inns. This visit constituted my second in two months. Of course, my colleagues can beat that but for me, this is a lot. And in comparison, the Fairfield Inn at Bellevue beats out the Fairfield Inn San Jose Airport merely because they have hot water. But here are a few other reasons.

The surrounding atmosphere bowled me over. Tucked in a corner of Bellevue, behind a Microsoft annex building, a cluster of Marriott properties, including Courtyard By Marriott, Marriott Residence Inn and the Fairfield Inn, forms a bit of a Marriott village among evergreen trees and clear air. Again, keep in mind that I breathe smog 24/7 here in Los Angeles so the fresh air in Washington wins me over.

Complimentary breakfasts will convince the most miserly finance manager, which is exactly what I am. The Fairfield Inn provides a bountiful continental breakfast with hard-boiled eggs (pre-peeled), cereal, pastries, fruit, cottage cheese, and warm-it-yourself Jimmy Dean sausage biscuits. While I usually need pancakes and bacon, this breakfast is nothing to sneeze at.

An indoor pool and workout room provided enough exercise opportunities to make me feel guilty. The pool area also featured a spa for healing sore muscles from extensive exercise sessions. Again, feeling guilty.

But down to the nitty gritty. The room featured two queen sized beds and plenty of space. The bathroom, cleaner than the San Jose property, had hot water. The only issue I had was that the window didn’t lock. Even though I was on the second floor, I asked security to come up and take a look at the window. Sheepishly, I found out that the black plastic thingamajigger was the lock and I had to slide it all the way down to the base of the window. But the point of this story is that the front desk staff was very accommodating to my requests. Even the complimentary Internet access worked at this hotel, unlike the San Jose location.

Overall, I would stay at this hotel again. Request a room on the third floor as the insulation in the building does not provide as much peace and quiet as I would have liked. Every room has a tranquil view of trees. The Fairfield Inn’s proximity to the Microsoft campus makes it a popular choice. Next time, I’ll make sure I get the correct directions to the right buildings so that it really is a short drive to the office.
